Description

How Can We Use Science Riddles to Engage our Learners?

Here are some suggestions on how you might use riddles in your classroom:

  1. Post slides on a screen as a quick bellringer, for review or discussion. Have students discuss with each other what they believe the solution to the riddle is and how they know (drawing from their own knowledge and hints in the riddle).
  2. Post slides in your classroom as words students will learn during the unit.
  3. Copy riddles onto your tests to assess vocabulary definitions. Instead of just having students provide the solution, have them explain how they came to their solution (by drawing on what they know and hints in the riddle).

 

All terms in this package are used in the science for the middle and high school classroom (YES, we did try to align it with the NGSS and BC curriculum!).
